Ascend Performance Materials has launched ThermaPlus heat-stabilization technology for nylon 6/6 resins.

Officials with Ascend in Houston said that ThermaPlus materials can be high-temperature, high-ductile replacements for nylon 4/6 without sacrificing ductility, processability or mechanical properties. The materials can provide exceptional performance while pushing long-term heat exposure up to 150° C, they added.

Potential applications for ThermaPlus materials include high-temperature sensor protection housings, auto cable ties and fasteners, high-temperature hose clamps and fir tree ties. The materials also are regrindable and recyclable.

Ascend ranks as a global leader in nylon 6/6 resins and compounds. The firm is a unit of investment firm SK Capital Partners of New York and has annual sales of more than $3 billion.
